Our community of students, faculty, alumni, and staff have accomplished a myriad of accolades across various disciplines. We celebrate their recent triumphs and witness their impactful works during the Spring 2026 semester.

Institute of Performing Arts

Art & Public Policy

Karen Finley (Professor, Art & Public Policy) was featured in the Latest Publications from Tisch Faculty for her publication of I Wasn't Supposed to Be Talented: Writings 1985-1994.

LySaundra Campbell (current student, Art & Public Policy) received a Student Research Travel Grant for her project "COMBAHEE."

Diya Abbas (current student, Art & Public Policy) received a Student Conference Grant for her project "Lyric Cardiograms" and "Beloved Triptych."

Stacey Marbrey (current student, Art & Public Policy) received a Student Research Travel Grant for her project "MOXIE."

Juan Pablo Caicedo Torres ‘23 (MA, Art & Public Policy) served as an application mentor for HEAR US’s sixth year.

Collaborative Arts/ Open Arts

Katherine Helen Fisher (Visiting Assistant Arts Professor, Collaborative Arts) premiered DYAD, a dance film.

Katherine Helen Fisher (Visiting Assistant Arts Professor, Collaborative Arts) directed Street Dance (1964-2025) that premiered inside of Dancing with a Page in Hand.

Donna Cameron (Instructor, Open Arts) screened "The Whole in Parts," exhibited "Silver Nitrate in Paris: Circa 1984" and had her multi-media wall sculpture, "Green Tower,” curated into the exhibit "Photography 2025."

Peter Lucas (Instructor, Open Arts) opened the curated exhibition, “The Last Hour of Summer/Arpoador: Sunday Evenings in Rio de Janeiro.”

Lizzier Olesker (Instructor, Open Arts) presented The Washing Society along with a brief reading and performance from Hand Book: A Manual on Performance, Process, and the Labor of Laundry at The Center for Media, Culture and History.

Huiwang Zhang (Instructor, Collaborative Arts & Open Arts) performed in Echo Glass at Danspace Project.

Patricia Hoffbauer (Associate Arts Professor, Collaborative Arts) premiered her new dance piece This is Not May '68 at the La MaMa Moves! Dance Festival. 

Gustavo Aguilar (Professor, Collaborative Arts) presented "Shape Shift" with TUG Collective at the Brooklyn Fine Art Print Fair.

Chaerin Do ‘24 (BFA, Collaborative Arts) was featured in People of Print, a global creative platform with” a Tempo,” which was originally created as a Capstone project.

Ron Shalom (Instructor, Collaborative Arts & Open Arts) presented his immersive, live show Minivan.

Jade Manns ‘19 (BFA, Dance) named one of Dance Magazine’s 2026 “25 to Watch”

Seán Curran (Arts Professor, Dance), Kyle Abraham '06 (MFA, Dance), Silas Reiner ‘08 (MFA, Dance) have been awarded 2026 Guggenheim Fellowships.

Shloka Porwal (current student, Dance) collaborated to create new work en pointe presented at CounterPointe13. Performers included: Xin Xin Rong, Caroline Cevasco, and Chiara Kovac (all current students, Dance). 

Hannah French (current student, Dance) presented original choreography at the 2026 Young Choreographer's Festival at the Joyce Theater. Performers included: Ella Barron, Natalie Jahn, Pierce Plues, Mimi Wright, Briyana Wyche, and Anna Zou (all current students, Dance).

Liam Redford (current student, Dance) directed and choreographed a sold out off-Broadway production of Pippin at A.R.T./New York, with choreography by Darby Greene (current student, Dance) and performances by Jack Jillson, Michi Morita, and Ada Hamilton (all current students, Dance).

André M. Zachery (Associate Arts Professor, Dance) was awarded the Strokes of Genius Fellowship from The Black Genius Foundation and Black Genius Brain Trust. 

Indah Mariana (Assistant Arts Professor, Dance) performed in the sold out run of “Lunch Dances” at the NYPL, called one of the "Best Performances of 2025" by the New York Times and received wide acclaim in both Vogue Magazine and The New Yorker.

Elizabeth (Betsy) Coker (Associate Arts Professor, Dance) was awarded a research grant through NYU Langone Clinical and Translational Science Institute to develop an AI-assisted balance assessment software platform.

cari ann shim sham* (Arts Professor, Dance) had their multidisciplinary practices; body landscapes, wobimo: a magical sigil generator, ~ body waves ~ #60 smoked for what is needed most, and body waves morph #60/107 garner international recognition across film, performance, and generative media.

Kyle Abraham '06 (MFA, Dance) was appointed as a 2026 Guggenheim Fellow.

Milo Manheim (Drama) was cast as the starring lead Flynn Rider for the live action 'Tangled' movie.

Katherine LaVictoire ’08 (BFA, Drama), Stefanie Estes ’06 (BFA, Drama), and Drew Leary ’05 (BFA, Drama) worked on 2026 Sundance Film Festival awarded films.

Lady Gaga (Drama) won multiple 2026 Grammy Awards.

Janicza Bravo ‘03 (BFA, Drama) was nominated for a 2026 Director's Guild Award.

Adam Sandler ‘88 (BFA, Drama) was nominated for a 2026 Director's Guild Award.

Dell Howlett (Arts Professor, Drama & Co-head of Dance, New Studio on Broadway) directed and choreographed AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' at Arizona Theatre Co.

Tiffany Rachelle Stewart  (Assistant Arts Professor, Drama & Head of Physical Acting, New Studio on Broadway) choreographed JACOB MING TRENT'S HOW SHAKESPEARE SAVED MY LIFE, which premiered at Berkeley Rep. 

Byron Easley (Arts Professor, Drama & Co-head of Dance, New Studio on Broadway) choreographed Johnny and June in London.

Stephanie Jeanette Weeks (Visiting Arts Professor, Drama & Interim Head of Acting, New Studio on Broadway) has been awarded a 2026 OBIE for her performance in SHOW BOAT A RIVER.

Sam Pinkleton '09 (BFA, Drama) won a 2026 Obie Award.

Maiga Vidal ‘25 (MFA, Graduate Musical Theatre Writing) and two-time HEAR US grantee, hosted the first complete table read of Café con Leche with Tisch Initiative for Creative Research (TCR).

Angelica Cheri ‘15 (MFA, Graduate Musical Theater Writing) & Ross Baum ‘15 (MFA, Graduate Musical Theater Writing) were featured on the 2026 Post Next 50 list.

Kate Zambreno (PhD candidate, Performance Studies) gave a reading and appeared in conversation with Valeria Luiselli (Faculty, Creative Writing) at NYU's Creative Writing Program.

Sarah Jane Cervenak ‘05 (PhD, Performance Studies) had the book, Black Gathering: Art, Ecology, Ungiven Life named as an inspiration in the show, Ceremony.

Gelsey Bell ‘15 (PhD, Performance Studies) was commissioned for a new site-responsive composition through a NYSCA Support for Artists grant at Green-Wood Cemetery.

Ash Marinaccio ‘08 (MA, Performance Studies) received nonprofit status for their organization Docbloc Projects.

Areum Jeong ‘08 (MA, Performance Studies) published K-Pop Fandom: Performing Deokhu from the 1990s to Today.

Allen Baylosis ‘21 (MA, Performance Studies) published his article "Staging Filipinx Migration in British Columbia" in the BC Studies 227: Filipino Canadian Studies in, on and through British Columbia. 

André Lepecki (Professor, Performance Studies) published his book, Co(reo) Imaginar with Edições do Saguão.

Diana Taylor (Professor, Performance Studies & Spanish) received the Rodolfo Usigli Medal by the Rodolfo Usigli National Center for Theater Research, Documentation, and Information (CITRU) of the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL) of the Government of Mexico, and the Department of Literature at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. 

Nour Helou ‘23 (MA, Performance Studies) published The Tale of the (Fe)Male Sun with Swedish publishing house Glänta. 

André Lepecki (Professor, Performance Studies) gave two public lectures at Museo Tamayo in Mexico City.

Ann Pellegrini (Chair and Professor, Performance Studies) and Avgi Saketopoulou (Faculty, NYU’s Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis) have received the annual Diversity Award from the Society for Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychology (SPPP) for Gender Without Identity.

 

Juan Arias ‘22 (MA & PhD candidate, Performance Studies) wrote a play called *Un muro* (*A Wall*), which premiered at the Teatro Estudio Julio Mario Santo Domingo in Bogotá, Colombia.

Sol Cabrini (PhD candidate, Performance Studies) hosted a night of experimentation and exploration of ecstatic noise as sonic renegades at Sisters in Brooklyn.

Gabe Cuzzillo ‘15 (BFA, Game Center), Maxi Boch (former Associate Arts Professor, Game Center), and Bennett Foddy (former Associate Arts Professor, Game Center) won the Excellence in Audio Award for Baby Steps at the 2026 IGF Awards.

AP Thomson ‘15 (MFA, Game Center) won the Excellence in Design Award and Seumas McNally Grand Prize for Titanium Court at the 2026 IGF Awards. 

Jess Haskins (Adjunct Instructor, Game Center) helped in securing the Excellence in Narrative nomination for Titanium Court.

Jack Morehart ‘25 (BFA, Game Center) was nominated for Best Student Game for Kiloton at the 2026 IGF Awards. 

Kenny Sun ‘14 (NYU Game Center Incubator) was nominated for Excellence in Audio and received an honorable mention for the Seumas McNally Grand Prize for BALL X PIT at the 2026 IGF Awards.

Stevia Ndoe '25 (BFA, Photography & Imaging) was featured at SPECTALiA during the Every Woman Biennial, the world’s largest women and non-binary biennial.

Hank Willis Thomas ‘98 (BFA, Photography & Imaging) helped design the official 2026 FIFA World Cup Poster. 

Hank Willis Thomas ‘98 (BFA, Photography & Imaging) had a sculpture featured in Montgomery Square, a new site dedicated to the Montgomery decade that changed the world.

Ming Shui ‘22 (BFA, Photography & Imaging) was named a finalist for the Phillips Auction House's Digital Art Awards for Genesis Kai.

Gabriel Henneman (MFA candidate, Dramatic Writing) was named a finalist for the 2025 Sloan Student Grand Jury Prize for his screenplay, REJECTION.
