"The Vape Synth is a project created by a group of makers in New York City who break apart spent Elf Bar nicotine vaporizers and hack them into digital musical instruments. The resulting device still looks like a vape cartridge, but with a small speaker nestled amid an array of lights and buttons. To play it, you put your mouth on it and draw your breath inward, like you would on a vape."

Dramatic Writing Alumni Hannah Doran Wins the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize

Dramatic Writing alumna Hannah Doran (MFA ’18) has won the 2026 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for her play The Meat Kings! (Inc.) of Brooklyn Heights. The prestigious international award recognizes outstanding English-language plays by women+, transgender, and nonbinary playwrights. Doran shares this year’s honor with playwright Ro Reddick.

Stevia Ndoe (DPI class of '25) has work in the upcoming SPECTALiA Biennial. The Every Woman Biennial, the world’s largest women and non-binary biennial, presents its 6th edition - SPECTALiA - this spring. SPECTALiA will feature art and performance by over 400 artists at its new location Pen + Brush, the non-profit organization that has been an advocate for creating equitable opportunities for women and gender-expansive visual and literary artists since 1894.
