Ann Pellegrini (Professor and Chair, Department of Performance Studies) and Avgi Saketopoulou (Faculty, NYU’s Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis) have received the annual Diversity Award from the Society for Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychology (SPPP), a division of the American Psychological Association. They will be formally presented with the award at the upcoming annual meeting of SPPP in late April.

The award recognizes their co-authored book, Gender Without Identity, and, what the prize committee called, their “ground-shifting efforts to expand…theoretical knowledge of gender formation and its potential to extend self-understanding through experiences of belongingness, flourishment, and joy among members of LGBTQ+ communities.”
