Juan Arias (M.A. '22, Ph.D. Candidate) wrote a play called *Un muro* (*A Wall*), which premiered at the Teatro Estudio Julio Mario Santo Domingo in Bogotá, Colombia, on March 20. The theater is one of the most important in the city. The play was produced by the theater and the Colombian Ministry of Culture. It had two performances that weekend, both to a full house. The play reflects on old age in the contemporary city, filial and social duties, and the need to create divisions between people to justify conflicts.
Juan is a Ph.D. candidate in Performance Studies at NYU and has an M.A . in
the same program. He has presented papers (2023-2025) in ASTR (US), the biennial artistic research conference PARSE (Sweden), LAILAC’s CUNY Congress (US), and PSi (Fortaleza, Brazil). In 2024, he published in the US journal Invisible Culture. He is a playwright. Three of his original plays were published in Colombia in 2018 and one in Uruguay in 2023. He has participated in over twenty theatrical productions in his hometown, Colombia.
