Grad Film MFA candidate Paul Rosenfeld receives Grand Prize at 2026 NYU Sports Festival

La Liga, co-directed by Grad Film MFA candidate Paul Rosenfeld and MacPherson Christopher, receieved the Grand Prize at the 2026 NYU Sports Film Festival. 

The documentary follows immigrant dairy farm workers in rural Vermont as they endure hardship and persecution while building community through soccer.

Paul Rosenfeld is a Vermont filmmaker pursuing an MFA at NYU Graduate Film. Previously he was on staff at The Atlantic where he was a finalist for the National Magazine Award for two short documentaries chronicling the effects of housing discrimination in Chicago. His projects have been featured in film festivals across the country and been selected for 2 Vimeo Staff Picks. He has produced work for The New Yorker, CNN and National Geographic among others. He works in documentary and narrative fiction.
