Katherine Helen Fisher Premieres DYAD Dance Film

Thursday, Jan 22, 2026

A dance film directed by Collaborative Arts' Visiting Assistant Arts Professor Katherine Helen Fisher will premiere this month!

DYAD will be screening at both Dance Camera West in Los Angeles and ScreenDance Miami on January 24th, as well as the Dance on Camera Festival in New York on February 8th.

DYAD poetically explores the resilience and fragility of the human form against the stark beauty of California’s Mojave Desert towns. Directed by Katherine Helen Fisher and choreographed by Allison Hooks, the film follows two female dancers moving through cycles of collision and symbiosis. Cinematographer Sinziana Velicescu leans into the aesthetics of emptiness, framing sparse architecture and open terrain to evoke a landscape whose habitability feels increasingly precarious. Through metaphors of mitosis, DYAD quietly reflects humanity’s imprint on delicate ecosystems, offering a contemplative vision of connection and identity in the Anthropocene.
