This past Friday, we had the extreme pleasure of hosting Professors Ahmir Questlove Thompson and Harry Weinger's first “Classic Albums: Thriller” class, which featured a special screening of the Showtime documentary, Michael Jackson’s Journey From Motown To Off The Wall, and Q&A with its director, Spike Lee. DJ Spinna was also a guest contributor.

The film takes an in-depth look into the evolution of The King of Pop, and the cultural significance — and lasting impact — of his seminal first solo album as an adult. For the class it served as an insightful introduction to Thriller, a record intended by MJ to cross demographics and genres, to confound prejudice and misconceptions, to sound bigger, better, best — goals he more than matched.

The film and conversation were fantastic - many thanks to our incredible guests and professors for making this a day we won't soon forget.
