Facilities FAQs

WHAT SORT OF EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE DOES THE DEPARTMENT USE?

The Clive Davis Institute's production facilities utilize a combination of analog and digital audio equipment - balancing traditional and modern technology, facilitating all production techniques from “old-school” analog to contemporary digital approaches, working in stereo or fully-immersive surround-sound. In its recording studios, edit suites, and music production lab, the department's Apple Macintosh computers host multiple digital audio workstations, including Pro Tools and Pro Tools HD, Logic Pro and Ableton Live/Suite. In addition to computer-based digital audio workstations, three of our four recording studios are equipped with Studer A827 two-inch, 24-track analog tape recorders. Our equipment collection also features a wide array of microphones and musical instruments, allowing tremendous creative flexibility.

CAN I RENT OUT A STUDIO?

Our studios are used exclusively by Clive Davis Institute (CDI) community members. CDI students may bring guests from outside the CDI community, but non-CDI students cannot reserve studio space to work on personal projects.
