Scott Poulson-Bryant Joins The Clive Davis Institute Full-Time Faculty

The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music is very happy to welcome Scott Poulson-Bryant to our full-time faculty.

Professor Poulson-Bryant joins the Writing, History, and Emergent Media area of CDI's curriculum. He previously taught at the University of Michigan and Fordham University, where his courses spanned Performance Studies, Black popular music, African-American popular culture, gender and sexuality studies, and creative non-fiction writing. He is a graduate of Brown University and earned his M.A. and Ph.D. at Harvard.

Before entering academia, Scott built an acclaimed career in journalism, writing for the New York Times, Rolling Stone, and The Village Voice. He was a founding editor at VIBE MAGAZINE, and the very person who gave the magazine its iconic name. Founded by Quincy Jones, VIBE, as Jodi Guglielmi wrote in Rolling Stone this past May, became the definitive "high-gloss print" authority on hip hop, R&B, and Black culture. He was also a staff writer for SPIN and GIANT magazines.
