Eight days after the news that legendary recording artist Prince had died at age 57, the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts assembled a panel of seven leaders in music, filmmaking, and journalism, all of whom had met and been profoundly influenced by the artist. The panel included journalist Carol Cooper, Grammy winning recording artists Anthony Hamilton and Kimbra, NYU Professor and Oscar-winning filmmaker Spike Lee, writer Alan Light, Grammy-winning musician and Clive Davis Institute faculty member Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson, and writer Touré, with students from the Clive Davis Institute serving as the audience.
After an introduction by Tisch School of the Arts Dean Allyson Green, Jason King, professor at the Clive Davis Institute, moderated the two hour long discussion. Each panelist shared his or her personal reminiscences of Prince, as well as thoughts on how the artist and his music revolutionized the industry both artistically and commercially.
