On September 12, Grammy-Nominated Recording Artist Pusha T and Universal Music Group's SVP of A&R and COO of G.O.O.D. Music's Steven Victor, joined Soraya Joseph, Ebony Magazine's Digital Content Curator for an "Elements of Hip Hop" masterclass in the Eisner & Lubin Auditorium at New York University.
The event was the first of the new UMG "Masterclass" speaking series which features both artists and music executives. The series premiered at NYU with the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music and NYU's Program Board in partnership with Ebony Jet Magazine.
Before 400 NYU students, the Masterclass kicked off with a 45 minute Q&A that covered such topics as career paths, the role of a modern label, balancing being an artist and exec (Pusha T is also president of G.O.O.D. Music), how to work within multiple roles as well as new music and discovery and the A&R process.
