2021 Spark!
As the premier educational training ground for future leaders and aspiring moguls in the music industry, The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts — founded by chief patron and music impresario Clive Davis himself — has quickly developed a reputation for recruiting and developing the most compelling new talent in the business. Recent graduates of the program include Capitol Records’ recording artist Maggie Rogers, who shot to viral fame after appearing in a video in which she plays her music for a stunned artist-in-residence Pharrell Williams; Björk and FKA Twigs collaborator, Arca; Grammy-winning songwriter Emily Warren; Grammy-winning Hip Hop duo Take a Day Trip; Grammy-nominated R&B ingénue Elle Varner; and Glassnote Records’ indie pop singer-songwriter Tor Miller. The Institute, which officially launched in 2003 and has been the home of instructors such as Swizz Beats, Q Tip, Questlove, and Bob Power as well as 2021 artists-in-residency Dev Hynes and 100 gecs. The Institute boasts a steady stream of talented graduates barnstorming other industry areas like business, journalism, tech, and production. Come join the fun as the The Clive Davis Institute hosts SPARK!, the annual showcase for our graduating performers. With musical direction by Institute professor Jeff Peretz, SPARK! is a curated evening of up ‘n coming sounds and sensations from artists whose work promises to make its mark on the future of music.

As we all know, it has been a difficult year for live performance, which makes it quite exciting to share that ReMu will be Live-streaming our performers and band from Elsewhere Space in Brooklyn!
Our students have bravely pivoted, reconsidered, and innovated their practice throughout their time at the Clive Davis Institute, and we look forward to sharing their craft with our community and ReMu's network of creative professionals.
