SoundCloud is the world’s largest music and audio platform with more than 175 million monthly users, and since its inception in 2007, Alexander Ljung (Co-Founder and CEO) has been responsible for overseeing SoundCloud’s vision and strategy. Under Alex’s leadership, SoundCloud has accomplished exponential growth, and boasts more than 12 million creators heard on the platform every month.
In an interview with Marc Plotkin, Alex discussed his background in working in sound design for film as well as his transition to coding. He shared stories about the launch of Soundcloud, how he's navigated working with the legacy music industry, as well as surprise successes of unknown artists on the platform. Students asked fantastic questions, and Alex even gave students who will soon be studying abroad in Berlin (where Alex lives) his recommendations for the best music in town.
