International Students and Tisch

Wednesday, Sep 23, 2015

The Tisch School of the Arts welcomed its largest incoming international student class this year. More than 300 new graduate and undergraduate students are now part of the Tisch community, and they come from more than sixty countries.  Each Thursday promptly at 3:00 PM, the Tisch Student Affairs Office hosts a coffee hour/mixer for all international students.  We have had a delightful cross section of the international student body come for the first three of these events.

Almost 150 new students participated in the Tisch international  Student Arts and Cultural Activities Group this year.  These outings (conducted in the week before and the week after the start of the semester) gave new students the opportunity to meet kindred spirits from other departments and cultures and provided experiential knowledge of new York City.  Our tours included visits to the New York Botanical Garden, Coney Island, Times Square, Central Park, the Staten Island Ferry Richmond County Baseball Park, Chinatown, the Williamburg Flea Market, Jackson Heights, Lower Manhattan, and world class museums, along with a range of international cuisines.

We welcome our growing international student body at the Tisch School of the Arts and hope to see you at the next International Student Coffee hour!
