"Meet The Fellows" Part 2!

This past year, ITP/IMA launched a new Fellowship program where we’ve invited a handful of amazing individuals to join our department, either for a semester or for a year. And it’s time that you all meet the Fellows! In this round-table, ITP/IMA Fellows, Ali Santana, Sharon De La Cruz, and Patricia EL, will share about their work and practice!

About the Fellows

Ali Santana
Ali Santana is a multi-disciplinary artist from Brooklyn, NYC. who skillfully combines creative techniques to produce a unique style of abstract storytelling that he dubs Boom Bap Cinema.

Santana’s work, inspired by community, ritual, ancient technology, and Hip Hop culture utilizes video art, photography, sound design, beat-making, live performance and emerging technology to create work that touches on a range of interconnected themes including Black American culture, urban decolonization and identity.

Sharon De La Cruz
Sharon De La Cruz is a multi-disciplinary artist, educator, and activist from NYC. Passionate about STEM education and visual narrative, her research and practice are rooted in culturally relevant STEM pedagogy, accessible design, and social justice. She is also interested in designing stories and experiences addressing topics like environmental justice, reproductive rights, police violence, and joyful resistance, and is currently focused on storytelling and sequential narratives through comics.

Patricia EL
Patricia is a Spanish artist working across architecture, immersive technologies, storytelling & social justice to explore how we can bridge socio-political divides, and build more compassionate and equitable futures for all. She has collaborated on international projects including: a ‘public therapy tour’ across Palestine with AM Qattan Foundation, a playback performance with the Freedom Theatre from Jenin and rapper Shi3rap, ‘Parallel Utopias,’ an environmental scheme at the Korean DMZ, ‘Locke Jetspace’ a library of the future in South Central Los Angeles, and more.
