Programming Design Systems

In this talk, design duo and co-founders of Design Systems International Rune Madsen and Martin Bravo will talk about their work in the intersection of graphic design and programming languages. The talk will focus on key concepts from Madsen’s book (and ITP course) Programming Design Systems and how these same ideas influence the work of their studio when developing design systems for digital products, dynamic identities, or custom design tools.

Martin Bravo is a designer and programmer who worked at O'Reilly Media and as Digital Director at Base Design. His work was awarded the Silver Lion as a part of the Chilean Pavilion at the 2014 Venice Biennale Architecture Exhibition. Martin graduated from ITP in 2012.

Rune Madsen is a designer and programmer who has worked at the New York Times and as Director of Software Development and Creative Director for O’Reilly Media. Graduating from ITP in 2011, he has taught at ITP since 2012 and is currently turning one of his courses into a book titled Programming Design Systems.
