Bio/Grow Workshops

Plants growing in a box under purple lighting

In the class Biodesigning the Future of Food (Stefani Bardin's class) we are looking at speculative and ecosystem design and biotechnologies related to agriculture and food systems.

We’re also creating food experiments on the floor and you can too.  This workshop gives a brief overview of food systems and permaculture and sets you up with a bin and soil and seeds to cultivate your own experimental garden plot that feeds into the data we are collecting for the class related to soil, light, microbes and mycelium. There is also some Martian Soil to potentially play with too.  Not exactly from Mars – but a simulant blend of Earth rocks, selected by NASA and Jet Propulsion Lab scientists to match the surface of Mars.

* Only open to current ITP students.
