Please join ITP Fellows Shirley Wu and Lisa Jamhoury in the 4th floor Conference Room for a discussion about their time at ITP and career paths on Friday, November 8th at 5 p.m.

Talk:

Define: 2016 - 2019
This talk will stray from my usual style of talks; instead of sharing technical lessons and takeaways, I'll be talking about my personal journey as an independent creator of data visualization. I'll be talking about past projects that have defined my personal career growth, and the future projects I hope to work on.

BIOS:

Shirley Wu is an award-winning creative focused on data-driven art and visualizations.  She has worked with clients such as Google, The Guardian, SFMOMA, and NBC Universal to develop custom, highly interactive data visualizations.  She combines her love of art, math, and code into colorful, compelling narratives that push the boundaries of the web.

Lisa Jamhoury is an artist, acrobat, yogi, teacher, designer working with computation and the human body to better understand herself, society, and how technology brings it all together, and apart. Lisa maintains the open-source tool Kinectron, which brings lo-fi real-time motion capture data into the browser. Currently she’s a Human In Residence at NYU ITP, where she’s exploring the graphics pipeline, playing with the Azure Kinect, and incubating ideas around machine learning’s capacity to act as a mirror to the creative process. Recently she was a founding member of Adobe’s Machine Intelligence Design team, and of Blue Chalk Media, a nonfiction digital media company.
