Tuesday, October 4, 10am EST - Now archived on https://www.facebook.com/itp.nyu.edu/

Benedetta Piantella is a designer turned humanitarian technologist. She has founded engineering R&D companies focused on producing sustainable solutions to social challenges worldwide and has designed, prototyped and deployed projects in countries such as Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. She is currently a full-time faculty member at NYU-ITP where she teaches Physical Computing and Engineering for Development.

Marina Zurkow is a media artist focused on near-impossible nature-culture intersections, researching “wicked problems” like invasive species and superfund sites. She uses biomaterials, animation, and software technologies to foster intimate connections between people and non-human agents, in gallery installations and participatory public projects. At ITP, she has been known to teach art and research, audio/video, alternative materials, and courses with animal and environmental focuses.
