Technology has touched every aspect of our lives and has taken on a greater presence in community building, socializing, and even in the ways we "hook up." We have invited panelists to explore how in today's world of "social apps" activities like seeking safe spaces, networking, and finding love have evolved. Are bars now obsolete, and social apps the new norm? Come and find out!

Panelists include: Eric Silverberg, the founder of Scruff, to address the shift towards a digital landscape and the kinds of strategies employed by social apps to bring people together; Eric Schrimshaw, Associate Professor of Public Health at Columbia University, who recently concluded a major study for the NIH on technology, gay social behaviors, and public health: and Lisa Menechino, manager of the Cubbyhole Bar, a lesbian and gay, “anything goes” bar in New York City’s West Village since 1994.

The moderator will be Heather Dockray, digital media reporter at Mashable, who has done tons of work covering the LGBTQ and tech communities.

This event is hosted by the NYU LGBTQ Alumni Network, NYU Entrepreneurship Alumni Network, NYU Alumni in Tech, and the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at the Tisch School of the Arts.
