BODIES IN MOTION

Performance art, live motion capture dance and digital happenings

Brooklyn, New York: New York University is excited to present Bodies in Motion, a performance art event taking place on Saturday, December 17th at 5:00pm. Artists and engineers from the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) and the Integrated Digital Media Program (IDM) will debut installations and performances that address notions of spectatorship and human interaction in the age of ubiquitous digital media.

The performance highlights the border of real and virtual, presence and performance, observation and participation. Bodies in Motion confronts the idea of spectacle, rethinking motion capture technology and its representation through dance, virtual reality and immersive environments.

The event consists of live motion capture dance, virtual reality installations, and participatory performances designed through cutting-edge visual tools to immerse the audience in play. Bodies in Motion will take place at NYU’s Media and Games Network (MAGNET) on the 8th Floor of 2 MetroTech Center in downtown Brooklyn. The event is free of charge.
