Artist Talk: Pamela Liou

Pamela will discuss the evolution of her work, the concurrent histories of technology and textiles, as well as life post-ITP as an artist.

Bio:

Pamela Liou is an artist, technologist, and writer living in Brooklyn, NY. Her work examines tensions between craftsmanship, technology and commerce, revealing the hidden socioeconomic structures undergirding global industry. Through examination of supply chain, gendered labor, and digital fabrication, Pamela’s work offers alternative modalities for production and distribution. She is a adjunct professor at Parsons Design + Technology program. After graduating ITP, Pamela further developed the Doti Project, and open source jacquard loom initiative during her residency at Eyebeam and Museum of Arts and Design (MAD.) She is also a former resident of DRBS Innovation Labs where she explored blockchain technology for peer-to-peer supply chains mediated by connected devices.
