Student Engagement and Activity Leaders (SEALs)

Tisch Student Engagement & Activity Leaders (SEALs) are paid student worker positions in the Tisch Office of Student Affairs. This is an event-based role in which SEALs help oversee and manage events for the Tisch community during Orientation, Open House, Alumni & Families Weekend, Weekend on the Square, and Tisch Salute at Radio City Music Hall. During these events, SEALs engage with a variety of guests including parents and families, NYU faculty and staff, current students, and prospective students. SEALs serve as role models for new freshmen and incoming students, and are expected to represent Tisch School of the Arts with enthusiasm, positivity, and professionalism.

This role is compensated at $17/hr.

QUALIFICATIONS

 
  • Be a currently enrolled undergraduate student at Tisch School of the Arts as a rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior.

  • Be in good academic and disciplinary standing.

  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • Live in and/or have the ability to commute to the NYU campus.

  • Enthusiasm and a positive attitude for your department, Tisch, and NYU.

  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent time management/organizational skills.

  • Strong desire to serve as a leader and role model, both on campus and in the greater community.

  • Public speaking skills and a willingness to engage with guests during events.

  • Desire to assist new students in their transition to Tisch.

  • Ability to work with diverse groups of students, parents, faculty, and staff.

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptive during events.

 

TIME COMMITMENT

Tisch SEALs are hired for a year-long commitment and work as needed for events hosted by the Tisch Office of Student Affairs. This is a nontraditional student worker position in that you won’t have a set weekly schedule; there will be periods of the year in which SEALs are used less frequently than others.

SEALs will be expected to attend the following mandatory events throughout the year. Please confirm your availability for these events before applying:

Online SEALs Training Session (Zoom): TBD, likely May 2026

In-Person SEALs Training: Friday, August 28th 11am-4pm

Orientation Events (August 2026)

  • Parents & Families Drop-in: Saturday, August 29th

  • Tisch Connect: Sunday, August 30th

  • Presidential Welcome, Monday, August 31st

  • Dean’s Welcome, Tuesday, September 1st

Admissions Events (Mid October and Mid April)

  • Tisch Open House: Saturday, October 2026 (Date TBD)

  • Parents & Families Weekend: Saturday, October 2026 (Date TBD)

  • Weekend on the Square: Saturday, April 2026 (Date TBD)

In addition to these mandatory events, SEALs will have the option to work other events, including:

  • Orientation Events: Transfer Student reception, International Student reception, and Tisch Club Fair

  • Admissions Events: Tisch Info sessions, Meet on the Square, and Pre-recruitment Orientation

  • Tisch Salute at Radio City Music Hall

  • Graduation Events: 100 Nights Before Commencement, Grad Alley

  • Additional events hosted by our Office of Career Development, Office of External Affairs, Office of Community Engagement, and the Dean’s Office

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a compensated position with current remuneration of $17/hour with State & Federal tax withholdings. In addition to this compensation, SEALs will also receive the following benefits:
