Tisch SEALs provide essential support to the Tisch Office of Student Affairs, Tisch departments, and student community. During a year-long commitment, SEALs work on events and student engagement initiatives, participate in leadership training, and learn skills that will advance their personal and professional growth. Throughout the year, SEALs will promote academic achievement, artistic exploration, collaboration, community engagement, and a sense of belonging. This is a compensated student worker position.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Be a currently enrolled undergraduate student at Tisch School of the Arts as a rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior.

  • Be in good academic and disciplinary standing.

  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • Live in and/or have the ability to commute to the NYC area for the entire year.

  • Enthusiasm and a positive attitude for your department, Tisch, and NYU.

  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent time management/organizational skills.

  • Strong desire to serve as a leader and role model, both on campus and in the greater community.

  • Ability to work with diverse groups of students, parents, faculty, and staff.

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptive during events.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Attend Online Training Session (April/May)

Attend In-Person Training Session (Friday, August 22nd)

Orientation Events (August 22nd-August 29th)

Welcome, support, and engage new first year and transfer students during NYU Welcome Week/Tisch Orientation. Responsibilities include setting up events, hosting Tisch Connect sessions, communicating with new students, and leading campus tours.

Admissions Events (Mid October and Mid April)

Support the Engagement Team at annual Admissions events which include Open House, Alumni & Families Weekend, & Weekend on the Square. Responsibilities include welcoming and mingling with guests, assisting with on-site setup and clean up, and escorting guests to departmental sessions.

SEALs will also have the option to work additional events throughout the year including:

-Events for other offices at Tisch including our Office of Career Development, the Office of External Affairs, and the Dean’s Office.

-Tisch Salute at Radio City Music Hall

-Meet on the Square events hosted by Admissions

-Community Engagement events for Tisch students

Peer Mentorship: in addition to events, SEALs will also have opportunities to provide peer mentorship to new and incoming Tisch students. This includes hosting Tisch Connect sessions during Orientation Week and connecting with a group of Tisch students throughout the academic year.

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a compensated position with current remuneration of $17/hour with State & Federal tax withholdings. In addition to this compensation, SEALs will also receive the following benefits:
