Unlock the Secrets of a Writers' Room

Are you an aspiring writer eager to dive into the world of television writing? Here’s your chance to experience the thrill of a writers’ room firsthand! Join us for an exclusive opportunity to work with Chandra Russell, the talented writer/actor from HBO’s South Side. This simulated writers’ room experience will give you an insider’s look into the creative process behind developing an episode of a hit TV show.

Session Details 

How it Works: 

  • Pre-Session Prep: Selected students will receive an email with preparation materials and Zoom session details by Thursday, September 19th, 2024, one week prior to the session.
  • Group Division: Participants will be split into two groups: Story A & Story B. 
  • The Process: Participants will be guided through the process of breaking a story in as a staff writer. This will also include an explanation of how a storyline is selected. 
  • Q&A Session: The session will end with the opportunity for participants to ask questions about the writing process and how to navigate the early stages of a writing career.

Eligibility
All currently enrolled Juniors, Seniors, & Graduate Tisch students are welcome to apply. 

Dates and Deadline

  • Applications open: Tuesday, September 10th 
  • Applications close: Saturday, September 14th, 11:59pm ET
  • Applicants will be notified of their application status during the week of September 16th, 2024.

Students selected for this opportunity will be required to commit to attending the entire 2 1/2 hour session on Thursday, September 26 (no exceptions).
