Summer Dance Residency: London is offered in collaboration with Trinity Laban. Students will attend daily training at Laban and participate in either a Dance Repertory Project or Commissioned Work as part of the program. The Dance Repertory Project aims to widen the range of resources and knowledge on which students can draw; provide the opportunity to explore and understand experientially and within its own historical and cultural context a choreographic work and its specific technical style; stimulate use of analytical perspectives in engagement with art works, dance work and creative processes. The Commissioned Work aims to provide practical experiences that prepare students for the demands of intensive working practices within the profession; encourage the development of the responsible and reflective performer by how the principles of safe dance practice and physical maintenance of the dancing body are applied; work with different choreographers and differing creative; gain an understanding of the differing demands and challenges of the initial choreographic/rehearsal process and the subsequent on-going touring process. These performances have full production values. All pieces in the components for this project are fully costumed with bespoke individual fittings for each dancer and the theatre is the second largest space designed especially for dance in London.
