The Sight and Sound Documentary, by UGFTV student, Kendra Brown, was presented at the Changing Minds Young Filmmakers Festival. It tells the story of a Bronx native, Veronica Carter, dealing with depression after childhood trauma. Changing Minds Young Filmmakers Festival is the largerst festival on mental health in the US.
In October, Brown was interviewd on News12 for her documentary about Carter. The two worked to change viewers’ minds on how people view mental well-being, particularly in the black community.
“Especially in the black community, we sort of have a culture of silence surrounding mental health,” says Brown.
