The 2024 application is now closed for first-year applicants. All deadlines have passed for this year.
The 2024 application is open for Transfer applicants only.
Start your Common Application with the NYU supplement (choose Film & TV as your major).
*note Transfer applicants must use the Common Application for Transfer students.
Start your Creative Portfolio via SlideRoom.
COMPLETE & SUBMIT BOTH by your chosen deadline. The Common App and the Creative Portfolio are always due at the same time, based on the deadline you choose.
AS OF 2017, FILM & TV IS TEST OPTIONAL.
STANDARDIZED TEST SCORES ARE NOT REQUIRED TO APPLY.
Requirements for Applying to Film & TV
- Submit the Common App.
- Submit your Creative Portfolio through SlideRoom.
- International students MAY need to provide proof of English language proficiency. Read NYU’s policy to know whether this applies to you.
- Proof of High School Diploma or Equivalent (details at NYU Proof of Graduation Policy).
- We DO NOT require the SAT/ACT or any other standardized test. We are a “test optional” program.

Already have a bachelor's degree? If you already have a completed bachelor's degree (even if the subject you studied is unrelated to Film), you must apply to the Graduate Film Program. To learn more about applying to the master's degree program, click here. NYU does not grant second bachelor's degrees.*
*The only exceptions are for Nursing and Engineering majors.
