What “Type of Candidate” am I?

NYU Internal Transfer = Students who already attend NYU but are in a school other than Tisch (e.g. Stern or CAS).

Tisch Change of Major = Students who would like to switch from one Tisch department to another (e.g. Cinema Studies → Film & TV)

Tisch Double Major = Students who would like to major in two departments at Tisch (e.g. Cinema Studies and Film & TV)

External Transfer = Undergraduate students who attend or have previously attended institutions other than NYU.

Application Process

NYU Internal Transfer March 1 April Summer
  1. Submit the Internal Transfer Application to the Office of  Undergraduate Admissions.
  2. Submit the Creative Portfolio via SlideRoom*
Tisch Change of Major March 1 April Summer
  1. Fill out the Tisch Change of Major Form and submit to Student Affairs.
  2. Submit the Creative Portfolio via SlideRoom*
Tisch Double Major March 1 April Summer
  1. Fill out the Tisch Double Major Application Form and submit to Student Affairs.
  2. Submit the Creative Portfolio via SlideRoom*
External Transfer March 15 May-June Summer
  1. Complete your Common Application for Transfer Students (choose Film & TV as your major)
  2. Submit the Creative Portfolio via SlideRoom*
