What “Type of Candidate” am I?
NYU Internal Transfer = Students who already attend NYU but are in a school other than Tisch (e.g. Stern or CAS).
External Transfer = Undergraduate students who attend or have previously attended institutions other than NYU.
Tisch Change of Major* = Students who would like to switch from one Tisch department to another (e.g. Cinema Studies → Film & TV)
Tisch Double Major* = Students who would like to major in two departments at Tisch (e.g. Cinema Studies and Film & TV)
*NOTE: the Film & TV Department will not be accepting Tisch Change of Major or Tisch Double Major applications for the 2027 application cycle. Current Tisch students enrolled in other departments are encouraged to consider alternatives such as minoring in Film, Producing, Documentary, or Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology. You may also visit the Courses for Non-Majors website to see if there are additional film-related courses that can be taken as electives.
