Get One-on-One Advice!

If you have questions or concerns about how to approach intimate scenes in your project  we welcome you to meet with our Intimacy Advisor, Amy Northup.  Amy is an experienced intimacy coordinator (IC) who assists students with questions about directing intimate scenes.  She can also connect you with resources for hiring an IC should you need one.  Similar to having a stunt coordinator on set to oversee performance and safety with physical stunt work, an intimacy coordinator supports the director's vision while ensuring that the safety of all those involved is priority number one.

UGFTV Students who are working on an approved school project will have access to a no-cost initial script/project consultation with Amy.  Costs may apply for additional services, such as the hiring of an Intimacy Coordinator to be on set.  If you would like to arrange for a meeting with Amy please complete the form below.  Allow for at least 1 week lead time to receive a response to your request.

Making Consent the Culture. Not the Exception.

Read about the work in THE NEW YORK TIMES, ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE, and AMERICAN THEATRE MAGAZINE

Intimacy Coordination for TV and Film, or Intimacy Direction for Theatre and Live Performance, is the codified system for choreographing and performing scenes of intimacy on stage and screen. This unique method allows for the creation of specific and repeatable choreography that effectively realizes the director's vision while prioritizing the safety and confidence of all those involved in the production.

Intimacy Professionals are choreographers, advocates for actors, and liaisons between actors and production for scenes that involve nudity/hyper exposed work, simulated sex acts, and intimate physical contact. The Utilization of intimacy direction/coordination supports the whole creative team, and builds trust and communication within the ensemble. This eases unnecessary discomfort and awkwardness, and assists in preventing sexual harassment in the workplace.
