Xin Fang, Carnegie Hall, Spring 2016

At Carnegie Hall Archive I worked under the Digital Asset Manager, Kathryn Gronsbell. I was given the task of support and configuration of the Digital Asset Management system (DAMS). I did several steps of quality control over batches of digital files, including both images and videos. The steps includes initial file checking, generating checksum, matching checksum, embedding metadata, mapping metadata fields. I learned to use several different tools such as ffmpeg, exiftool, mediainfo, and OpenRefine. I was involved in reviewing the content model of importing the information from Carnegie Hall's database, OPAS to DAMS. I also learned Python and Bash, the coding languages. In addition, I also went to Fortress, the offsite storage site for Carnegie Hall. I unpacked, checked, and shelved different formats of video and audio tapes.
