Summer at Tisch Highlights

It's officially summer at Tisch! Summer courses start today. Didn't register yet? Summer Session II begins on July 6. 

So much awaits you at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. What can you achieve this summer? Let’s start with designing and building interactive art technology, learning to tell a story with sound, writing sketch and late night comedy, and directing a documentary.

Whether you’d like to learn a new skill, immerse yourself in a newly found passion, or continue honing your craft, NYU Tisch has opportunities to help you create and bring your stories and ideas to life.

Here are just a few summer highlights:

EVIDENCE: A Dance Company

The Summer Dance Residency Festival is back in-person at the Second Avenue Dance Studios. Train with guest companies each week in ballet and contemporary styles of dance. Enroll in one or both three-week sessions, for credit or non-credit.

Have a story to tell or an idea waiting to get on the page? Take a course through the Department of Dramatic Writing. Enroll in Screenwriting I or Playwriting I, or learn the fundamentals of television writing with Episodic Writing I: Specs.

Translate your story to the screen by taking an online film production course like Sight and Sound Filmmaking or Sight and Sound Documentary through the Kanbar Institute of Film and Television. Learn how to get a project off the ground through Producing Essentials, offered through Tisch Open Arts

Attend ITP Camp, online for summer 2021, or learn the fundamentals of coding with the Interactive Media Arts (IMA) course Code!

"Code! is a 7 week online course that teaches the fundamentals of computer programming by building visual, interactive sketches in the p5.js creative computing environment. Students will be given the opportunity to explore the possibilities of computation and create projects that integrate their unique fields of study."

Build on your game design skills with Intermediate Game Development, Intro to Programming for Games, or Introduction to Game Engines, all available through the NYU Game Center.

"Intro to Game Engines is for fledgeling programmers to get familiar with the basic mindsets, tools, and practices of game development, and make a bunch of tiny games in the process."

Train with theatre professionals in the New Studio on Broadway Music Theatre summer intensive, offered through Undergraduate Drama or take one of their many theatre studies courses, including Studies in Shakespeare, Directing Practicum, and Ecology of New York Theatre.

Study Contemporary Photo Now or Web Design at the Department of Photography and Imaging or learn music production at the Clive Davis Institute with the Mix Intensive or get insights into the music business with Music Supervision & Licensing | The Basics of Music Licensing. 

If you're looking for something with more flexibility, explore the Tisch/Pro online courses, like Branded Storytelling, Documentary Workshop, Writing for the Screen, and more. These non-credit courses are structured to fit into any schedule, with on-demand video modules and weekly assignments, plus opportunities to collaborate with other students in the class and schedule video meetings with the course instructor. Registration for Summer Session II Tisch Pro/Online courses is open until June 18.
