PS Double Major/ Minor

Double Major Requirements

The Performance Studies major consists of 40 points of coursework. Lower and upper division electives allow students to deepen their engagement with specific genres or subject matter, and the final capstone project gives students the opportunity to undertake an extended, original research project under the supervision of faculty.

Minor Requirements

The Minor in Performance Studies consists of 16 points:

• Introduction to Performance Studies or advisor-approved equivalent (4 points)

• 12 points of PS elective coursework (upper- or lower-division)

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Open enrollment 

Current Tisch Students ONLY: Students must be enrolled in the program to which they were originally admitted for one full year before they may double major in another program. Applications to Double Major or Minor within Tisch: All Tisch applicants must complete the application and provide the required academic documentation and supporting credentials. Double Major applicants must submit a writing portfolio with their application. Minor applications do not require a writing portfolio.

Portfolio Requirement: Please submit a 750-1000 word statement that addresses your interest in performance studies, why you think you are a good fit for this department, and what you hope to gain from the experience of studying with us. What do you hope to study and write about in the field of Performance Studies? Why are you applying to this program and not a more traditional program such as anthropology, dance, or theatre?
