Eleonora Fabião, Ph.D. 2006
PS Alumna, Eleonora Fabião (Ph.D. 2006), received on October 25th the title of Honorary Doctor from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. At the ceremony, the artist and Professor received a diploma, a ring, and a hat in accordance to the institution’s traditions. The Master of Ceremonies said: “Eleonora Fabião is an internationally recognized artist and professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. By creating dialogue-based, democratic projects within her artistic practice, she has been an inspiration for the Faculty of Arts. With actions in public space as a source of knowledge, she expands not only the stage and the audience, but also how performance art can be used as an instrument and method to develop and understand how society works and changes.” In an interview, Eleonora stated: “I feel extremely grateful and motivated by such a meaningful and generous gesture. And, certainly, this title does not only concern my work, but the artistic and pedagogic work of everyone involved in the practices.”
