Meet Lingdong Huang, PhD Researcher at MIT Media Lab’s Future Sketches. 3-4PM on Friday, Nov 1 @ RED SQUARE. fishdraw: procedurally generated fish drawings. Lingdong will showcase how he uses code as a creative medium for making art. From generating intricate patterns to crafting interactive experiences, he’ll share insights into his processes and the tools he uses and creates, as well as dive deeper into recent projects such as {Shan, Shui}*, doodle-place, and fishdraw. He’ll discuss important themes of his work, such as playfulness, tool-making and the recreation of organic and painterly effects in code. He’ll also talk about his educational journey, including his experience as a PhD researcher at MIT Media Lab, and discuss how creative practice and academic research can help shape a fulfilling practice. Lingdong Huang is an artist and programmer, whose work explores code as a creative medium for making art. He makes procedurally generated drawings, esoteric programming languages, and interactive experiences, as well as a wide range of open source tools for creative coding and generative design. He is currently working on his PhD thesis on programming languages and frameworks for creative coding at the Future Sketches Group at MIT Media Lab, where he is exploring the future of creative coding.For any questions about the event reach out to Yeseul: ys2643@nyu.edu
