ITP/IMA Thursday Night Talk: Cy X

Thursday Night Talk

In this workshop, Cy X (former ITP resident & Current IMA Critical Experience prof) will share a few practices that invite in our full sensorial body and curiosity into our research and artistic practices. We will learn how the body can catalyze collective knowledge production while bringing us into awareness of our interests and values alongside different non-traditional research methods we can incorporate into our practices for generating new possibilities when we're feeling stuck. Feel free to bring a research topic to work with!

Cy X is an poetic technologist, performance artist, and educator based in Brooklyn, NY.  Fusing art and technology with the practice of witchcraft, they are inspired to use spells, rituals, and alchemic practices to fundamentally alter the world around us. They are grounded in: queer theory, design thinking, embodied research, and more-than-human collaboration. They are an adjunct professor at New York University’s Interactive Media Arts Program and they teach embodied ways of knowing and research-informed artistic practices.
