Kristian King grew up in Atlanta, GA and is currently based in Brooklyn. She discovered her love for film when she directed her first short film in the last year of her Biology degree at Duke University. After working in clinical research for 3 years and moonlighting as a theater assistant director and short film director/producer, she moved to NYC to begin the MBA/MFA Grad program. She is currently in the 3rd year of the program and was recently awarded the Willard T. C. Johnson Fellowship & Essential Entertainment Scholarship. During her time at NYU, she has produced several films including a short that will be featured at Sundance in 2019. Additionally, she's continued to write and direct her own work. She's interested in telling stories that reflect a diversity of perspectives, especially those of women of color. Each of us has something to say and film is her way of speaking to her community and the broader world.
