Born in Tamil Nadu, India, and raised in Hyde Park, Chicago, Amrita Singh is a Writer/Director with her M.F.A. from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Interested in empowering individuals through the small victories they claim in the face of adversity, she enjoys subverting her characters’ perceived weaknesses as strengths and finds inspiration in the power of a quiet love, one built on sacrifice and the things often left unsaid. Prior to her studies at NYU, Amrita worked as an Office PA and Writer's Assistant for the Lee Daniels's show, “Empire” and Lena Waithe's "The Chi."
