The Tisch Dance Department would like to congratulate MFA graduate, Mary John Frank, for the recent recognition of her choreography and filmmaking skills. Mary John is a graduate of the Dance and New Media inttiative within the Department of Dance; a department wide iniative teaching students classic and new technologies in dance film and new media. The Young Director Award recently highlighted her dance spec commercial and film projects, "Play With Tradition" and "Contemporary Swing". The projects were created during her final semester at Tisch Dance and were a collaboration with students in the Dance, Film, and Design departments at NYU. The Young Director Award is and organization dedicated to finding new talent and upp-and-coming directors and filmmakers. Previously, the YDA has profiled the work of filmmakers, worldwide, as well as students in the Tisch Film Department. This is the first time that a graduate from Tisch Dance has been recognized and featured. We look forward to seeing more from Mary John and hope you will take a moment to check out the interview and her dance on camera work.
