Savannah Campbell, Crawford Media Services, Inc., Summer 2016
During the summer of 2016 I interned at Crawford Media Services in their Media Management Division. Crawford is a vendor and the Media Management Division carries out mass digitization projects based on client requests. Over the course of my internship, I was able to rotate to different digitization projects and spend time learning workflows for migrating analog video, film, and audio. I worked migrating video (including 1" tape, 3/4" U-Matic, VHS, and Betacam) using both SAMMA Solo and Telestream Pipeline HD encoders, digitizing audio cassettes and 1/4" tape using Protools, and scanning 16mm film on a Lasergraphics ScanStation. For each tape or reel I migrated I also performed quality control checks on all files to ensure that all of the content was captured correctly. I also spent time in the engineering/IT department transcoding video files with ffmpeg, generating drive reports, and writing out files to hard drives so the final deliverables could be sent to clients.
