Alyosha Nowlin, American Museum of Natural History, Spring 2020
In the Spring of 2020, I interned at the American Museum of Natural History, working with films in the ornithology collection. I conducted a comprehensive inventory of the films, and reconciled previous organizational structures under one permanent cataloguing schema. After locating a tinted 35mm nitrate print by museum ornithologist Robert Cushman Murphy, I inspected and evaluated the film in preparation for photochemical and digital preservation. I obtained a vendor quote, and drafted a proposal requesting funding for the work from the National Film Preservation Foundation.
