Walter Forsberg, NYU Bobst Library, Spring 2009, IMLS

In the Library's Preservation Department, Walter Forsberg worked with both analog and digital video and JPEG2000 digital files from the Library's valuable art and social history collections, creating preservation masters and the necessary access copies for researchers. Using a new survey tool designed by the Preservation Department, Forsburg inspected over 500 audiotapes to determine their condition and whether they could be preserved in-house. He also processed 16mm and 8 mm film for off-site storage, learning the technical and logistical procedures for managing multiple archival storage locations.
