Bay Area Video Coalition is an organization providing resources in the Bay Area, California for the audiovisual community. The part of the organization that I worked in serves primarily as a vendor for digitizing magnetic media. Over the course of my internship, I was able to gain experience in each stage of BAVC’s digitization process. This included intake, cleaning, digitization, editing, notes, and quality control. My time at BAVC has made me much more comfortable working with video materials, and I feel like I have come away from it with a more intimate understanding of how video works and how to assess various types of video errors.
