During my internship at California Revealed, I was able to work on metadata remediation for audiovisual works that had previously been digitized, preserved, and placed online for partner institutions. The institutions I updated metadata for included the Fresno County Public Library, the Yolo County Archives, and UC Berkeley's Bancroft Library. My tasks included watching these digitized works and providing quality checking for the materials, and adding metadata information so that they would able to be found more accurately, and easier, by those using the California Revealed and Internet Archive website. Many of the collections I worked on had been taken in during the 2013/2014 digitization cycle, and had very limited metadata information attached to them. I watched all moving image materials and listened to all audio files in these collections in order to accurately add description information, genre and subject information, and other information to make these materials more easily accessible. I was able to familiarize myself more with Library of Congress search terms, and as a bonus, I was exposed to aspects of local California history that I had not been familiar with despite being born and raised in the state.
