Kayla Henry-Griffin, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Summer 2021

During the summer, I had the opportunity to work with the time-based media art collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I had the chance to conduct preliminary research for multiple artists and artworks reflected in the collection. I read journals and articles on the topic of time-based media conservation. With the research I had previously done, I was able to produce identity reports and condition reports for the artworks I worked on over the summer. I had the chance to preserve two artworks by creating a bag and a checksum for each artwork. In addition to my time working with the time-based media collection, I was learning more about photograph conservation, specifically learning about the various types of photographic processes.
