Out of 12 finalist essays selected among students' submissions from across six schools at NYU for this year's publication of Mercer Street, 5 were written by Tisch students!
As part of the NYU’s Expository Writing Program (EWP), these students’ essays were published in the yearly anthology, Mercer Street which showcases some of the best student essays from the previous academic year.
The Expository Writing Program (EWP) at NYU challenges students to craft compelling arguments and ideas through a close reading of complex texts. The program provides the required writing courses for undergraduates in the College of Arts and Science, Tisch, Steinhardt, Silver School of Social Work, the College of Nursing, Tandon, and some students at Stern.
The writing featured in Mercer Street includes a wide range of genres, from creative and technical to reflective and persuasive prose. Ultimately, the publication showcases writing that aims to make an impact, offering readers new ways to see the questions and challenges of today while also helping them imagine new possibilities.
Congratulations to our students for this outstanding achievement!
Additionally, on September 29th at one of the EWP evening plenary lectures, Jolie, Joella, Muhammad and Sophie will speak to the Tisch first year class.
The Department of Art & Public Policy is the Tisch liaison to NYU's Expository Writing Program. In addition to APP's one-year Masters in Arts Politics, their faculty and staff collaborate with EWP colleagues to refine curricula, program special events and lecture series, and assist Tisch students with enrolling in this required course for first-year students.
