Welcome to a space beyond either and or. A place where people speak many different languages, and make new ones together. A community that is steeped in praxis and pulsing with purpose. A practice of criticality, openness, and yes. Genres blur, formations evolve, minds and spirits expand.

Art and politics are woven here. We play with ideas and embodiments, action and reflection, invention and dimensions. Our play is rigorous and infectious. It shifts things. Welcome to this encuentro — an encounter with your own sense of the unexpected.

We believe in the vibrant power of art. We embody this in our one-year Masters in Arts Politics, an undergraduate minor, and our dynamic public programming. Our faculty are crafting new ways of creativity and critical frameworks. Our alumni are enacting change all over the world. Our community is growing!

Together, let's reimagine your work and our shared world. Come join us!

Societies may never know it, but the war of an artist with his society is a lover’s war and he does, at his best, what lovers do, which is to reveal the beloved to himself and, with that revelation, to make freedom real.

— James Baldwin, The Creative Process
