Birgit Rathsmann

Birgit Rathsmann is an animator and visual artist in New York City. Her animated work includes music videos, title sequences, TV commercials, motion graphics for television channels and on-line spaces. Her work has won awards from the South By Southwest Film Festival and the Palm Springs Film Festival.

She organized exhibitions and presentations at Gasser/Grunert Gallery (NYC), the East River Band Shell,163 Eldridge and Alterna Y Corriente (Mexico City) which have been reviewed in the New York Times and artforum. She has shown at the Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Haus der Kulturen (Berlin), Smack Mellon, Pierogi. Grants have been awarded by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, New York State Council on the Arts, MacDowell Colony, the Skowhegan School for Painting and Sculpture.

She teaches Motion Design & Titles and VFX Compositing.
