Students are encouraged to bring fashion images to be analyzed and broken-down during class time. Students will be encouraged to use any digital and photo-based method or approach that can best serve their individual interests. We will explore the art and production of the fashion shoot, which covers editorial, advertising, and beauty tasks in a hands-on format. Develop lighting techniques for strobe and natural light. Learn how to produce your own photo shoots, scout locations, and work with models, and makeup artists. During the semester, emphasis will be on developing multiple projects, refining and editing each project, with assistance in determining a final completed form. Students will be expected to challenge themselves and each other by photographing on the streets of Paris as well as on the campus and look for the most iconic buildings and villas to create unique photo settings.
During the semester, we will also attend exhibitions at fashion houses, lectures, view contemporary and historical exhibits, screen documentary films about fashion designers and photographers; and discuss a variety of images in art and pop culture by looking closely at fashion magazines produced worldwide.
