Ja'Taun Pratt

Ja'Taun Pratt is an MA Candidate in the Department of Performance Studies. Pratt's interests span cross disciplinary subjects of Dance, Film/Theatre, Poetry and Black/Queer Theory. They are a performer and artist through drag, dance, and written works. They are invested in diving deeper into the performance of gender, race, and social status that are prevalent in society vis-a-vis Ballroom, NYC queer nightlife, black studies and communities.

Why Performance Studies? 

I chose to pursue the PS program after being exposed to the field while recieving my BS from New School. This was a very eye opening experience to start to deepen my knowledge of how performing arts has this broad net that is cast in quotidian moments.
