PS Alumni Michele Minnick (Ph.D. '16) and Rachel Bowditch (Ph.D. '04), along with Paula Murray Cole (who taught The Performance Workshop via PS for many years) have co-edit the book Inside The Performance Workshop: A Sourcebook for Rasaboxes and Other Exercises. The book has notable contributions from Richard Schechner, and several PS M.A. and Ph.D. grads: Scott Wallin, Erin Mee, Ulla Neuerburg, Cobina Gillett, Fernando Calzadilla, and Shanti Pillai.
Published last May by Routledge, the book reflects their 25 years of teaching and development of their work through summer workshops at the Department of Performance Studies until 2016, as well as in their various institutions and projects. It offers a historical and theoretical background, a thorough description of the workshop itself, and some theoretical reflections on its pedagogy. Additionally, there's a section where contributors report on their applications in various fields.
The first official book launch will be held at CUNY's Segal Center on April 29th. Join them for a 3-hour Rasaboxes workshop and a book talk in the evening. More information will be available soon!
